A better question would be how to stop such viruses from infecting your computer, because these viruses come in all different shapes, sizes and names, so to speak. And knowing what they are called will not help you stop them.

Beware - a LOT of "attachment virus emails" going around

I recommend a free program called Avast, and also running something called malwarebytes regularly to make sure you haven’t downloaded and installed any malware. Also examine your Activity Monitor (OSX) to see if anything you don’t recognize is running.

How are computer viruses spread?

Well it is hard to tell what the most dangerous computer virus on the computer is now days because of the vast amount of information that hits the web every day I can tell you that recently many people have been worried about a virus called Zeus v3. And it works by stealing money out of people’s bank accounts. Since November 1987 when the Internet Worm created by Robert T. Morris, Jr. wreaked over $100 million worth of problems on computers connected to the Internet, it has been obvious that having computers connected on a computer network increased the possibility of virus infections. That is not to say that networks are bad, in fact networks are becoming more and more essential and valuable all the time. It's just that being online on a network, a BBS, or dialed into a remote computer increases the possibility of contact with viruses.
