Hardware Troubleshooting Empty
PostSubject: Hardware Troubleshooting   Hardware Troubleshooting EmptyMon Aug 13, 2018 8:52 pm

Hardware troubleshooting processes primarily aim to resolve computer hardware problems using a systematic approach.  We should start the process by first identifying the problem and finding different issues that can cause such a problem and eventually leading to implementing a solution or alternative.
Hardware troubleshooting is generally done on hardware equipment installed within a computer, server, laptop or related device.

Some processes within hardware troubleshooting include:

1. Tightening cable and jumpers on motherboard and/or components.
2. Software related hardware problems such as device driver update or installation.
3. Cleaning dusts from RAM and Video carts slot/ports and from cooling fan.
4. Removing, repairing and replacing faulty RAM, hard disk or video/graphic card.

DDR2 and DDR3 are not only different in what they are, but they are electrically different, you can't use products that aren't designed to be electrically compatible with each other. Even if you did somehow force a DDR3 module into a DDR2 slot, you'd probably blow the RAM, and, well, the system board too. Their pin outs are different, they have to be.

It's like VLB versus PCI versus AGP versus PCI Express, they are totally different physically and electrically, square peg in a round hole.

Additional ideas and questions about RAM, Glocell? Kindly quote this and reply.

What is a Computer Device Driver? According to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, "A device driver or software driver is a computer program allowing higher-level computer programs to interact with a device. A driver typically communicates with the device through the computer bus or communications subsystem to which the hardware is connected. When a calling program invokes a routine in the driver; the driver issues commands to the device. Once the device sends data back to the driver, the driver may invoke routines in the original calling program. Drivers are hardware-dependent and operating-system-specific. They usually provide the interrupt handling required for any necessary asynchronous time-dependent hardware interface."

I hope that I had helped you so far. You can ask more.

The simplest way to know if there's a problem with your monitor:

If you have a flat panel LCD monitor, unplug the monitor power cable, wait about 30 seconds, reconnect the cable and then turn on the monitor.

It may seem obvious, but make sure the monitor is turned on. If you do not see a power LED (blue, green, or orange light) on the front or bottom of the monitor, press the power button until it comes on. If no light comes on after several attempts, and if the data cable is plugged in, make sure the monitor is getting power by verifying that is a light (blue, green, or orange) on the front or bottom of the monitor's bezel.

If you see no lights on the monitor, make sure it is connected to a working wall outlet. If the power cord is removable from the back of the monitor, try replacing it with another power cable. If you still cannot turn on the monitor after trying another wall outlet and cable, the monitor is broken and should be replaced or maybe the graphics card is the problem.

You probably forgot to connect the 4pin - 8 pin connector on your graphics card, most common mistake.

The problem is always due to the graphic card failure. I have a lot of experience with this problem.
Its simple as this.
1. If you have an external graphic card and you get this problem. Then probably your graphic cards busted.
2. If you have an integrated graphic card and you get this problem. Well, Sorry but its about time you replace your motherboard.
Integrated graphics are not fixable.
3. If its the external problem. Then switch to the integrated graphic card (Thats if you have one) or get a new graphics card either with your warranty (if its valid) or buy one.

Tools for Cleaning a Computer
According to Hollan Johnson

Computers, like any other object in your home, will collect dust, hair and other debris which can get stuck in it. Plus, any time you or your family touches the computer you will leave germs on its surface. However, if you clean your computer regularly with a few simple tools you can keep it from getting too dirty.
...
A computer needs to be cleaned just like any other object in your home.
Clean cloth

A cloth is a good tool for cleaning a computer because, unlike paper towels, they shouldn't leave lint or other paper debris after you wipe down your computer. The cloth should be lint free and will be good for wiping down any surface of your computer.
Compressed Air

A can of compressed air will help you remove any packed in dust from your computer's fan and any other hard to reach crevices. All you have to do is blow the air into the crevice to loosen the particles from your computer.
Isopropyl Alcohol

For computer cleaning you can use either pure isopropyl alcohol or 90 percent to 70 percent isopropyl alcohol. Just make sure not to use an ethanol based alcohol. The alcohol will help clean germs from your computer.

Cotton Swabs

Cotton swabs are handy for cleaning in hard to reach places on your computer. Just dip the cotton swabs into the isopropyl alcohol and use them to clean areas where the cloth won't reach.
Portable Vacuum

A low powered vacuum is great for sucking out the dust and other debris that can get inside of your computer. You can use the vacuum to clean out the computer's vent or the inside of the computer. However, it is dangerous to use your regular vacuum because it generates static electricity which can harm your computer.

When your computer misbehaves, it's useful to know how to troubleshoot problems yourself. That way you won't have to run to the computer repair store for every issue that arises. There are a variety of things that could be going wrong with your computer, but you can usually track down and fix the problem on your own.

Simply put, if your computer becomes too hot, it is possible to destroy and shorten the lifespan of the hardware inside your computer, leading to irreparable damage and potential data loss. Besides losing your data, heat pecks away at your computer's internal organs—the motherboard, CPU, and more—significantly shortening its lifespan.

Besides the most obvious reason to keep your computer cool, a hot computer will also run slower than a cooler computer. So to prevent your computer from slowing down, make sure that it is running at a moderate or low temperature.

CPUs with dead fans will overheat. Computers usually have built-in safe guards to shut down or slow down the CPU when it gets too hot to prevent it from breaking. However, if the computer's safeguards fail or don't kick in fast enough the CPU can get above its maximum operating temperature and literally burn out. The CPU can get so hot it will ignite, destroying itself beyond repair. A fried CPU can also take down the motherboard and other connected components with it when it goes. The CPU will break if the computer is continually used with a dead CPU cooler fan.
